Did you ever have a lawyer who was a friend and your lawyer?
His lawyer friend told him the truth. No, this is not an oxymoron. It was a gift to divert the chaos coming to his door.
It was another Hollywood ending that never came true. Marriage is a rollercoaster ride with one distinct difference. After the grind, the heart-pounding excitement, and those dreaded sharp twisting curves, the rails rattling a dangerous noise louder the faster he goes, and then it gently stops, and he steps off and walks away from the chaos. Divorce never stops, not ever.
He used to read the Declaration of Independence when he was younger, and it
ignited his imagination:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that
all men are created equal, that they are en-
dowed by their Creator with certain unalienable
Rights, among these are Life, Liberty and
the pursuit of Happiness.”
What a plan. He could pursue a life anyone would aspire to. His childhood didn’t fit the life he imagined. There were plenty of better examples of pursuing happiness. He had perks as a Military Brat, other kids didn’t. They had a movie theater on base that played first-run popular movies one after another. A new film almost every night. Many of his friends and family called him a dreamer. He loved to immerse himself in the adventure, sitting in the dark watching his dreams with a bag of popcorn and red licorice. Everyday life offered a plethora of life experiences with options. Movies and dreams offered something better but somehow impossible.
He never missed the reluctant hero, even the vigilante.
There was always the beautiful woman, strong and confident.
He never imagined he would meet his imagination in real-time. She wasn’t the star, but he didn’t argue with his imagination. She asked him his name. Her laser eyes penetrated his instinct. He forgot his name. She had attended his party by way of a Bull Rider acquaintance he had. He fell in love while his imagination pictured a violent death. Somehow, she chose me over the Bull Rider. This fine man had boasted a day earlier. He would marry this woman. How delicate was this man? He accepted her choice and stayed away from us out of respect. Some would say he knew this dream woman was dangerous in her demeanor. Dreams don’t offer reality.
It didn’t take long for the facts to overcome the facade. He was determined to make this movie work by avoiding the third act for as long as he could. When she got pregnant, he went crazy with joy and a side of delusion. She stayed true to his promise of a comfortable life. He went to his family to help deliver his promise. His Dad was not too confident in his son’s general disposition. Dad never told his son a secret about the family. The family wasn’t too big on helping miracles come true. The last thing they wanted was a miracle to happen to you. He and his dream wife had a beautiful baby girl; the rest of his dream would wither away like a flower without sunlight.
A fool can survive his fault. It will take luck and faith, but give him a chance, And he’ll ignore that fate.
It’s not over. Shit hasn’t hit the fan!
Thank long Distance Dad. Needed this today to change my prospective. 😉
